Android Things, Google’s Internet of Things platform, allows developers to build smart products through Android application programming interfaces and Google services. The developer preview includes software tools like Android Studio, Android Software Development Kit, Google Play Services and Google Cloud Platform, alongside hardware tools like Intel Edison, NXP Pico and Raspberry Pi 3.
Products developed on the Android operating system will also benefit from direct Google security updates, according to the blog post.
