The standard version of the guidebook costs $749 and includes a manual, a disaster recovery plan, a reference manual, a training presentation, an employee quiz, a risk assessment template and essential HIPAA forms. There are more expansive upgrade versions available as well.
The HHS toughened penalties for HIPAA in 2010, raising the per-penalty fine ceiling to $1.5 million, which could increase if there is more than one violation. The HHS does conduct surprise HIPAA audits.
