Health First, a Rockledge, Fla.-based health system, integrated patient medication instructions into all four of its hospitals’ Allscripts Sunrise EHR workflows.

The patient medication instructions are part of Meducation, a software solution developed by First Databank. The software provides clinicians with simplified medication instructions for patients with low health literacy, poor vision or language barriers. These instructions are written at a 5th to 8th grade reading level with large font sizes and are available in 21 languages.

“Health First providers can now use Meducation without interrupting their normal workflow,” said Edye Cleary, chief quality officer at Health First. “This allows patients to have medication instructions that are clear, easy to understand and are tailored to each individual patient.”
