The National Library of Medicine, a program under National Institutes of Health, granted $1.5 million to VUMC biomedical informatics assistant professor You Chen, PhD, for the project.
Dr. Chen’s research team will explore care coordination patterns and their effect on hospital length of stay and unplanned patient readmission. The team will use machine learning to deduce care coordination patterns and their variability in relation to patient outcomes. They will also interview and survey healthcare experts about any new solutions that may be discovered in the study data.
