Meditech partners with Kenyan university: 3 things to know

Meditech will deploy its web-based EHR system Expanse at Aga Khan University in Nairobi, Kenya.

Three things to know:

1. Aga Khan will initially deploy Meditech Expanse at its academic medical center and clinics in Kenya before rolling out the system in Karachi, Pakistan.

2. Aga Khan provides health services to millions of patients and conducts various research to address chronic health issues in poor communities.

3. By implementing an integrated EHR, Aga Khan will be able to extract health insights from not just its patient population but the region population as a whole.

"The access to an abundance of data [AKU serves 2.2 million patients annually] will enable us to ask better questions and find better solutions to specific diseases and chronic issues in all the communities we serve," AKU President Firoz Rasul said in a news release.
