Oracle is cutting thousands of jobs as the company shifts its investments to AI infrastructure, CNBC reported March 31.
The software giant, which acquired EHR company Cerner in 2022 and dubbed it Oracle Health, started notifying workers of the reductions March 31. People familiar with the matter confirmed the cuts to CNBC. Spokespersons for Oracle and Oracle Health declined to comment to Becker’s.
The layoffs include 539 people at the former Cerner campus in Kansas City, Mo., according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice filed March 31 in Missouri. The dismissals are scheduled for May 26 and June 1. Some Oracle Health employees took to LinkedIn and Reddit to say they’d lost their jobs.
Oracle employs about 162,000 people. Cerner had roughly 26,000 staffers before the acquisition, but the EHR unit has had other rounds of layoffs since the deal. Several leaders also recently departed Oracle Health, Bloomberg reported March 2.
