The Great Plains Health Data Network will serve 110,000 individuals who are patients of the facilities involved. For patients, access to the new data network will allow them to view their health records, appointments, medication instructions and communicate with their providers via an online patient portal.
Providers at participating health clinics will be able to securely share patient records and discharge information with other local health systems and providers, according to the report.
The Community HealthCare Association of the Dakotas and the Wyoming Primary Care Association partnered for the project. Together, the organizations comprise 11 nonprofit health centers with 70 total care sites.
Development of the health data network is in its early stages, and the $1.56 million in funding was provided through a federal grant, according to the report.
