Newton (Kan.) Medical Center. Newton Medical Center’s tradition of excellence began in 1988 with the merging of Bethel Deaconess Hospital and Axtell Hospital. Today the facility contains 103 beds. Newton Medical Center garnered Healthgrades’ 2017 Outstanding Patient Experience Award and was named among iVantage Health Analytics’ Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals in the U.S. in 2016. In May 2017, the hospital announced EMR upgrades; as of June 1, the hospital transitioned to an enhanced EMR to coordinate between Newton Medical Center hospital and clinics.
