Vendors and developers can’t restrict physicians and other healthcare organization staffers from publicly talking about EHRs’ usability, security, user experience, interoperability, the developer’s business practices, or the way a user has employed the technology, the AMA wrote in the March 8 article.
The only exceptions are issues involving nonuser-facing aspects of the technology, intellectual property, and premarket testing and development, according to a December ONC notice cited in the article. Screenshots and videos can be shared if they communicate a relevant health IT matter like EHR usability or interoperability.
