The hospital’s board of directors, providers, department managers and staff have worked with athenahealth since July 2017 to customize the EHR system for the facility. Hospital officials anticipate the new EHR will simplify patient admission, exam and billing processes.
The system will replace the hospital’s current Nextgen EHR once its contract expires July 31. In a news release obtained by the Mineral Independent, hospital officials referred to the Nextgen EHR, which was implemented in April 2014, as “unproven technology and was much too expensive.”
Mineral Community Hospital will host onsite training to acclimate staff to the athenahealth EHR system in March.
