CGH Medical Center in Sterling, Ill., has launched Epic, a new EHR system that connects its hospital and clinic operations under a single digital platform.
CGH officials said Nov. 2 in a news release that the move is intended to improve communication among clinicians and give patients easier access to their medical information.
The implementation also brings MyChart, a patient portal that replaces the hospital and clinic’s former MyAccess systems. Patients can now view test results, schedule appointments, send messages to their care teams, and manage billing and insurance through the online tool.
In addition, CGH has introduced AI tools built into Epic that summarize clinical notes, suggest follow-up actions, and automatically draft documentation through voice capture technology.
