Illinois health system restores Epic after outage

Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System restored its Epic EHR system and its patient portal Sept. 12 after an Aug. 27 system outage rendered them offline.

“We will respond to patient messages as quickly as possible, and we encourage patients to reach out to their provider’s office to speak with a member of their healthcare team, should they require urgent assistance,” a Sept. 13 update from the health system reads.

Hospital Sisters said it is working to restore the rest of its systems that were taken offline. 

The cause of the outage is still unknown, but has been reported to have started at 2 p.m. on Aug. 27.
