EHR vendor Athenahealth has named Tom Cowhey its next CFO, effective June 9.
Mr. Cowhey joins Athenahealth from CVS Health, where he most recently served as a strategic advisor to the company’s president and CEO, David Joyner. He also previously served as the company’s executive vice president and CFO. His past roles also included serving as senior vice president of corporate finance and senior vice president of capital markets.
Prior to joining CVS Health, Mr. Cowhey served as CFO of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Surgery Partners, according to a May 27 Athenahealth news release. He also previously held several leadership positions at Aetna, including serving as CFO of the insurer’s U.S. health plan business.
