Wilmington, Del.-based ChristianaCare is now live on Epic, finishing its switch from Oracle Health to a new EHR and MyChart patient portal.

President and CEO Jenn Schwartz said Epic brings clinical information, care team workflows and patient-facing tools into one connected environment, making it easier for caregivers to access information across care settings while reducing duplication, according to an Oct. 3 LinkedIn post.

Through MyChart, patients can now view health information, message their care teams and manage appointments, Ms. Schwartz wrote. She described the go-live as “about much more than technology.”

More than 60 ChristianaCare pharmacists worked on the Epic medication cutover, said Carolyn Orendorff, PharmD, system director of clinical pharmacy services, in an Oct. 5 LinkedIn post. Dr. Orendorff called the effort one of the few moments in her career she looks back on in awe.

The three-hospital system decided in 2024 to make the switch. Robert Hartmann, vice president of EHR transformation and a former Epic director of implementations, led the project. The effort involved more than 200 dedicated team members and over 1,000 caregivers serving on workgroups and advisory councils.

Becker’s reported in July that the go-live puts ChristianaCare on the same EHR as every other Delaware health system.
