Wilmington, Del.-based ChristianaCare will go live on Epic on Oct. 3, marking the final stage of an enterprise-wide Epic transformation.
The Epic EHR implementation has been underway since the health system’s 2024 decision to switch from its previous EHR platform.
The three-hospital system is spending its remaining weeks before launch on caregiver training, operational readiness checks and rollout of a new patient-facing MyChart portal. The effort is being led by Robert Hartmann, vice president of EHR transformation, who joined ChristianaCare after nine years at Epic.
Training combines on-demand modules with live, role-based instruction, and caregivers must complete required training before using the new system, according to a July 22 news release from ChristianaCare.
Patients will transition to ChristianaCare MyChart, giving them online access to test results, visit summaries, appointment scheduling, care team messaging, eCheck-in, prescription refill requests and bill pay. Epic’s Care Everywhere feature will also let participating providers share patient records across other Epic health systems when patients receive care outside ChristianaCare.
Once live, ChristianaCare will join every other Delaware health system on Epic, along with many regional systems in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland — part of a broader wave of health systems going live on Epic in 2026.
