Rochester (N.Y.) Regional Health is preparing to implement systemwide ambient digital scribing after piloting the technology with 300 providers across multiple disciplines, according to a Rochester Business Journal Sept. 3 report.
The AI-powered tool captures visit conversations via smartphone, generating components of clinical notes to reduce documentation burden and enhance patient engagement. Providers reduced documentation time by 25% and were half as likely to report consistent symptoms of burnout. Patients also responded positively, citing more focused provider interactions during visits.
Brockport, N.Y.-based Oak Orchard Health is also expanding its use of ambient scribing after a successful pilot. Twenty-four of its 35 medical providers are currently using the technology, with testing underway in behavioral health. The health center has also consolidated multiple EMRs into a single platform and introduced self-check-in kiosks.
Rochester-based Trillium Health transitioned to Epic’s MyChart portal on May 1 to improve interoperability with other local systems. It has also implemented AI-driven interpretation tools from Boostlingo and updated its data security infrastructure.
