With the addition of FHIR, the drchrono EHR allows its patient users to access and share their medical data through the patient health record. Drchrono worked with the federal government to ensure the EHR had capabilities to support Meaningful Use Stage 3 and the Precision Medicine Sync for Science Initiative.

“As we move into a new era of health IT, every EHR getting Meaningful Use Stage 3 certified will have to provide a patient facing API as part of the certification,” said Daniel Kivatinos, co-founder and COO of drchrono. “We feel it’s critical that EHRs give patients the opportunity to own, manage and share their data with whomever and whenever they want.”
