Dr. Jacob Reider Appointed Acting Principal Deputy National Coordinator

Jacob Reider, MD, has agreed to serve as acting principal deputy national coordinator at the ONC, as well as continue to serve as ONC’s CMO.

Dr. Reider previously served as acting national coordinator following the resignation of Farzad Mostashari, MD, in October 2013. The current national coordinator, Karen DeSalvo, MD, was appointed in December and took over from Dr. Reider Jan. 13, 2014.

As acting principal deputy national coordinator, Dr. Reider will work closely with the ONC’s Office of Standards and Technology, the Office of Economic Analysis and the Office of the CMO.

In an email to ONC staff, Dr. DeSalvo praised Dr. Reider, writing, “Jacob has had a distinguished career, including his recent service as Acting National Coordinator, and I believe his skills complement the rest of the team’s in a way that will make him an ideal collaborator.”
