DOJ CIO works to merge email systems

Department of Justice CIO Joe Klimavicz has been working for more than a year to move the DOJ's email system to a Microsoft 365 cloud-based solution, according to Federal News Radio.

The change appears to be much needed, as the DOJ was utilizing 23 separate email systems only four years ago. It was shifting down to nine when Mr. Klimavicz became CIO in 2014.

The merging process isn't the only change Mr. Klimavicz is making. He's working with the Department of Agriculture on human resource services and with another department for updated computer hardware. Additionally, he created a strategy that focuses on protecting the DOJ's mission and wisely managing taxpayer money.

"My mission, the way I look at it, is to serve and protect and advance DOJ's goals through information and technology services," Mr. Klimavicz said. "What we really want to try to do is drive [the] DOJ's information technology services at the pace of American innovation."
