The app, which provides turn-by-turn directions inside UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill and UNC REX Healthcare in Raleigh, N.C., was developed in partnership with Gozio Health. The company creates mobile GPS platforms for hospital navigation.
UNC patients who use the app will also gain access to physician directories, UNC Urgent Care wait times and online appointments as well as navigation guidance to locations inside the hospitals such as restrooms and cafes.
“We hope that this technology will help our patients and their families more easily find their way around our hospitals and clinics,” said Steve Burriss, president of UNC Health’s Triangle Region, according to the news release. “We want to find innovative ways to enhance the patient experience during what is often a stressful time.”
The app is free and is compatible with Apple and Android devices.
