The iPads will use Twiage software, which provides ER staff with patient information, video feeds and photographs of accident scenes in real time. The service will be implemented for first responders arriving at Jefferson Health’s Abington (Pa.) Hospital and Abington-Lansdale (Pa.) Hospital.
“Twiage reduces the reliance on antiquated radio communication, which leaves a lot of room for miscommunication and error,” said Steven F. Fisher, MD, chair of Abington-Jefferson Health’s emergency medicine department. “This new system significantly expedites the patient registration process,” Dr. Fisher added. “Our patients are now getting better, more immediate care because of this technology.”
