GE HealthCare and Mayo Clinic have launched GEMINI-RT, a new collaboration focused on personalizing radiation therapy by integrating imaging, AI and patient monitoring across the cancer care continuum.

GEMINI-RT, short for the GE HealthCare–Mayo Clinic Initiative in Radiation Therapy, builds on a strategic radiology research alliance formed in 2023. The effort aims to enhance prediction, planning, automation, workflow and monitoring across radiation oncology, according to a Dec. 3 news release.

The initiative combines Mayo Clinic’s clinical and research expertise with GE HealthCare’s technical and engineering strengths in oncology care. The organizations plan to explore integration of imaging, advanced therapies, dosimetry and patient monitoring across the full cancer care journey—from detection and diagnosis to treatment and follow-up.

The collaboration focuses on four pillars: automation to eliminate repetitive tasks and accelerate treatment planning; predictive oncology to support personalized treatment decisions; multimodal therapies that combine radiation with targeted drugs or precision heating; and connected care tools using AI, biomarkers and sensors to monitor patients beyond the clinic and predict side effects early.

GEMINI-RT research activities will be based at Mayo Clinic’s campus in Rochester, Minn., and extend work from the 2023 partnership in magnetic resonance technologies, theranostics, and diagnostic and interventional ultrasound.
