Jason Pierre-Paul, a New York Giants’ defensive end, had one of his fingers amputated due to a fireworks mishap, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter posted a photo of the patient’s medical record, according to a Forbes report.
The initial story broke when a hospital employee shared the news with a friend; eventually the story found its way to Twitter. The media is not held to HIPAA, but Mr. Pierre-Paul may be able to file a lawsuit against the hospital, according to the report.
Mr. Pierre-Paul’s representatives and the Giants have yet to release a statement.
