Dell posts $1.4B net loss in Q1: 4 things to know

Dell Technologies on June 8 released its financial results for the first quarter of fiscal year 2018.

Here are four things to know.

  1. Dell reported total revenue of $17.82 billion, up 46 percent from $12.24 billion in the same period a year prior.
  1. Of its total first quarter revenue, $12.97 billion represented product revenue and $4.85 billion represented service revenue.
  1. Dell’s operating income increased 122 percent, from $539 million in the first quarter of 2017 to $1.2 billion this past quarter
  1. The company’s net loss totaled $1.38 billion in the first quarter, down from posting $55 million in net income for the same period one year prior.
