Annapolis, Md.-based Luminis Health has confirmed that an “unauthorized criminal actor” caused the cybersecurity incident that has disrupted systems across its network since Sept. 1.
The health system said Sept. 4 its investigation is ongoing and that its teams are working with third-party cybersecurity experts around the clock to restore affected systems. Luminis Health’s phone system and MyChart patient portal remain unavailable, and patients with questions about upcoming appointments have been directed to a dedicated hotline at 443-222-0193.
Luminis Health extended its hotline hours through the Labor Day holiday weekend before returning to its regular Monday-through-Friday schedule. Outside those hours, patients can leave a message for a callback.
The health system said its hospitals remain open and that patient care remains its priority as it works to restore systems.
The organization operates Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis and Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center in Lanham, Md.
