Cost of data breaches on the rise as cybercriminals leverage AI

The cost of data breaches is expected to rise from $3 trillion annually to more than $5 trillion in 2024, according to findings from Juniper Research.

In new research, The Future of Cybercrime & Security: Threat Analysis, Impact Assessment & Mitigation Strategies 2019-2024, analysts predict that the data disclosed from the data breach will not directly affect the subsequent costs.

Additionally, the researchers found cybercriminals are turning to artificial intelligence to learn behaviors of security systems. Organizations will need to improve security awareness training, the report suggested.
