Boston Scientific has fully restored manufacturing, order fulfillment and shipping operations following the cybersecurity event it first identified Aug. 25. The medical device maker said products are now moving through its distribution network at or above normal levels.
The company is still working through a backlog of customer orders, including those placed before the Aug. 25 incident and those received during the disruption. Boston Scientific said some customers may continue to see temporary delays as it prioritizes manufacturing and distribution to limit the impact on patients and providers.
Independent assessments from CrowdStrike and other third-party cybersecurity experts have found no evidence of ongoing threat activity or compromise to Boston Scientific’s systems since the company implemented containment procedures Aug. 25, according to the Sept. 9 update. Those assessments covered product development and software systems, manufacturing and device maintenance systems, business applications, and cloud, email and collaboration platforms.
Remote monitoring activations for cardiac device implant communicators and ICM remote monitoring also recently resumed after the network disruption temporarily affected that capability. Boston Scientific said it will continue sharing forensic findings from its investigation, along with CrowdStrike’s findings, through website updates and direct communications with customers and suppliers.
