- A hospital employee from Winter Haven (Fla.) Hospital inadvertently attached a file to a patient email that exposed the data of thousands of other patients.
- On May 1, Antonio, Texas-based CentroMed said it detected unusual activity in its IT network. An investigation into the incident confirmed that an unauthorized user gained access to the organization’s IT network in April.
- Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Wakeeney, Kan., reported a ransomware attack.
- Minneapolis-based Allina Health said a former employee impermissibly accessed the records of 715 patients in its EHR.
- On May 11, St. Louis-based Ascension confirmed that its May 8 cybersecurity incident was a ransomware attack.
- In a May 6 letter to patients, Poway, Calif.-based Palomar Health Medical Group said it began investigating “suspicious activity on certain computer systems within its network.”
- On May 3, Columbia, Md.-based MedStar Health said hackers accessed employee email accounts compromising the data of 183,079 patients.
