The incident, discovered Sept. 28, marks the second laptop theft since June, when a cell phone and laptop belonging to a former employee were stolen.
In the latest incident, the laptop stolen may have contained some patients’ first and last name, address, date of birth, Social Security number, Medicare identification number, health insurance information and limited medical treatment information. However, financial account information was not included.
RMHCS is offering affected patients identify theft protection services as a precaution. This includes 12 months of free credit monitoring services, a $1 million insurance reimbursement policy, educational materials and fully managed identity theft recovery services all through MyIDCare.
