Cognizant Technology Solutions to build regional office in Texas, hire 1k employees

The Irving City Council in Texas voted Aug. 10 to provide Teaneck, N.J.-based Cognizant Technology Solutions with an economic grant of up to $545,000 to establish its regional workforce, The Dallas Morning News reports.

The company plans to hire 1,090 employees in the area during the next five years as it builds its regional office in Irving, Texas. The Irving City Council unanimously voted to provide the company with $500 for each job it creates.

The regional office will comprise roughly 40,000 square feet of an Irving, Texas, office complex, a spokesperson for Cognizant told The Dallas Morning News via email. "This new center will serve as a hub for our more than 600 employees already in the Irving area … as well as providing the necessary facilities to accommodate our growth," he wrote.

Cognizant, which has more than 3,600 employees in Texas, also plans to develop technology training programs to support Irving residents, the report states
