CIO Karen Thomas: Modernizing Main Line Health

Karen Thomas is senior vice president and CIO at Main Line Health in Philadelphia, positions she has held since 1995.

She has led her system through systemic implementation of core and supplementary EHR products from vendors including eClinicalWorks, Siemens Healthcare and NextGen Healthcare.

Before 1995 she was director of patient systems at Philadelphia-based Hahnemann University Hospital and also served as assistant CIO. She has 25 years of experience in information systems. She started her career at Anderson Consulting, where she worked in several industries, including healthcare.

Ms. Thomas is a member of HIMSS and CHIME. She is currently vice chair of the board of directors of the Healthshare Exchange of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
