The Wall Street Journal reported the results of the survey, which collected responses from more than 3,300 CIOs and technology leaders.
The survey found 63 percent of CEOs have their CIOs undertaking projects that drive revenue, while 37 percent of CEOs want their CIOs to work on projects that save money.
These results indicate the shift in IT’s overall role in an organization. “Technology and methodologies have been developed that reduce the angst, their reaction time and the focus on keeping the lights on and the applications running,” Bob Miano, president and CEO of Harvey Nash USA, said in the WSJ report.
