Cigna launched a skill for Amazon’s cloud-based voice service Alexa aimed at answering 150-plus commonly asked health plan questions.

The skill, called “Answers by Cigna,” is aimed at “personalizing and simplifying health benefits information,” according to the company.

Cigna said a 2017 survey found 20 percent of respondents didn’t know what “premium” meant, while 66 percent didn’t know the meaning of “formulary.”

“When people do not understand the terms used in their health plan, they are less likely to take full advantage of their benefits. The new skill is designed to enhance this knowledge,” Cigna said.

“Answers by Cigna” is available to anyone on the Amazon Alexa Skills Store.
