Cigna-Healthspring, based in Fort Worth, Texas, will incorporate Telcare’s blood glucose meter into its diabetes management program, according to a news release. The service will be available under the Texas Medicaid program. It is currently available in Tarrant County, which incorporates Fort Worth and several surrounding suburbs.

Telcare, based in Bethesda, Md., uses cell networks to send glucose readings to secure cloud-based servers that give patients feedback and coaching for diabetes. Providers and caregivers also have access to the results, according to the news release.

“We are honored to partner with Cigna-HealthSpring to improve the lives of Texans living with diabetes,” said Andrew Flanagan, CEO of Telcare, in a news release. “Our connected technology, combined with the services of a managed care organization like Cigna-HealthSpring, enables the kind of personalized engagement and care coordination required for the successful management of chronic conditions.”
