CHIME to open chapter in Canada: 3 things to know

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives has signed a letter of intent with trade group Digital Health Canada to establish a CHIME chapter in Canada.

"Our goal is to transform health and care around the world using the amazing technical resources now available," Russell Branzell, president and CEO of CHIME, said in a news release. "Technology alone will not transform care, though. It takes healthcare IT leaders sharing their knowledge and learning from one another."

Three things to know:

1. Digital Health Canada will operate the chapter through Canada's Health Informatics Executive Forum, the trade group's dedicated healthcare CIO arm. CHIEF is composed of CIOs and senior healthcare leaders from provider, government and private-sector organizations across Canada.

2. Mark Casselman, CEO of Digital Health Canada, said of the new CHIME chapter: "This partnership strengthens the digital health leadership network between Canada and the U.S. … CHIEF members will benefit from access to CHIME educational programs, certifications and membership — building upon the trusted network of public-private sector engagement and knowledge sharing that is core to the CHIEF member experience."

3. The announcement marks CHIME's third chapter outside of the U.S., after opening one in India in 2017 and another in Italy in 2018. Today, CHIME serves more than 2,800 CIO and senior healthcare executive members across 51 countries.
