The affiliation is the first-ever in which a legacy health system has partnered with a healthcare startup less than one year old, according to a news release. Currently based only in Dallas, the partnership will allow Mend to offer its services to patients throughout Texas, including bases in Frisco, McKinney, Southlake and Flower Mound, with plans to expand further in 2016.
“Mend is incredibly honored to partner with Children’s Health. Together, we’re building a future of convenient and affordable care for patients throughout Texas and beyond,” Jonathan Clarke, MD, founder and CEO of Mend, said in a statement. “Healthcare is in the midst of immense disruption unlike anything we’ve ever seen and technological innovation and consumer focus are at the heart of this transformation. Mend is among a growing number of healthcare startups that are empowering consumers to take control of their health, while reducing the costs of healthcare.”
