Since 2013, Cerner and Washington, D.C.-based Children’s National Health System have partnered in pediatric innovation through the Bear Institute Innovation and Learning Center. The institute, which opened in 2014, resides on Children’s National’s main hospital campus and is dedicated to developing healthcare solutions to improve clinical pediatric outcomes.

Some of the institute’s initiatives include developing MyBearGuide, an app for patient and family engagement in the hospital; developing and implementing Quality Boards, visible dashboards that display real-time indicators; and workforce engagement.

“Cerner is honored to be recognized with this award, and we are proud to see such transformational success from the industry’s first pediatric health IT institute,” said Zane Burke, president of Cerner. “Cerner and Children’s National continue to work toward a shared vision of helping children get the best possible start to long, healthy lives. We look forward to continued advancement and innovation as part of our commitment to improving patient care worldwide.”
