A new facility focused on solving interoperability has found its home in Nashville, Tenn., according to a Nashville Business Journal report.

The Center for Medical Interoperability's headquarters will be located in an office building in Nashville. The organization is led by director Ed Cantwell. Mr. Cantwell envisions the center eventually housing more than 100 engineers working to crack the interoperability code.

Nashville, as opposed to somewhere like Silicon Valley, was a deliberate choice, according to the report, including the presence of five big health systems headquartered in or with locations the city: Hospital Corporation of America, Community Health Systems, LifePoint Health, Vanderbilt University Medica Center and Ascension.
