California Mental Health Organization Burglarized, Patient Data Stolen

Los Angeles-based Sharper Future, a private mental health service provider, has notified its patients of a potential data security breach after electronic equipment storing patient records was stolen from the facilities.

The stolen data did not include financial information, but it does include personal and health information, including health and clinical histories, treatment records and potentially Social Security numbers, according to the notification.

Sharper Future said in the notification the stolen equipment was password-protected and that "it would be extremely difficult for someone to access it."
