The Linux Foundation, a nonprofit consortium that develops open-source projects, launched Hyperledger to create common blockchain technologies for organizations to use as a foundation for industry-specific applications. In July 2017, the collaborative rolled out its first production-ready blockchain code, Hyperledger Fabric 1.0.

Two of Hyperledger’s new members, CAREiQ and Ehave, bring healthcare industry perspectives to the collaborative. CAREiQ developed an app to help providers track and access relevant healthcare data from their patients, and Ehave uses a cloud-based informatics platform to improve data-driven and personalized decision-making among mental healthcare providers.

The 13 members brings Hyperledger’s membership count to more than 230 organizations, including representatives from the finance, healthcare and aeronautics industries.
