Allscripts, GoodRx partner for prescription pricing transparency

Allscripts and GoodRx — a market-intelligence company that tracks medication prices — joined forces to provide clinicians with information about prescription affordability at the point of care.

Allscripts will embed GoodRx’s capabilities into Allscripts Professional EHR and Allscripts TouchWorks EHR, along with stand-alone platform Allscripts ePrescribe.

Clinicians using the software will have access to pricing information within their EHR workflow, which the companies hope will enhance patient awareness around prescriptions. Clinicians will also be able to use information from the GoodRx platform to discuss medication prices and discount options with their patient before writing a prescription.

“Today, most patients leave their doctor’s office with no sense of what their prescriptions actually cost at the pharmacy,” said Doug Hirsch, co-founder and co-CEO of GoodRx. “We’re excited to be partnering with an organization that shares our goal of lowering the cost of prescriptions for all Americans.”
