Morristown, N.J.-based Atlantic Health has launched Atlantic Health PatientGPT, a clinical AI tool built with K Health that helps patients understand symptoms and connects them directly to system clinicians.
PatientGPT integrates with Atlantic Health’s EHR and patient portal, drawing on each patient’s medical profile to deliver personalized responses rather than generic search results. The tool can route patients to same-day, same-hour virtual primary care appointments when clinical follow-up is needed. The platform is launching in a beta phase and will roll out gradually across New Jersey over the coming months.
“The best use of AI in healthcare makes care more human, not less,” Atlantic Health President and CEO Saad Ehtisham said in a news release. “Technology should strengthen the connection between patients and clinicians, reduce barriers to care, and help people get the right care at the right time.”
The eight-hospital system announced the tool Aug. 11 alongside another new offering, Atlantic Health Virtual Primary Care.
Atlantic Health joins Hartford (Conn.) HealthCare and Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health in building a PatientGPT solution with K Health. The startup’s health system partners include Somerville, Mass.-based Mass General Brigham, Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health, Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai, Philadelphia-based Penn Medicine and Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health. K Health said its AI has powered more than 4 million patient visits.
