Anthropic raised $65 billion in Series H funding at a $965 billion post-money valuation, the company announced May 28, with the round led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia Capital.

“This funding will help us serve the historic demand we are experiencing, stay at the research frontier, and bring Claude to more of the places where work happens,” said Krishna Rao, CFO of Anthropic.

Here are eight things to know:

1. The maker of Claude said its run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion earlier this month, up sharply since its Series G in February.

2. The company plans to direct the capital toward safety and interpretability research, expanded compute capacity, and the products and partnerships its enterprise customers rely on.

3. Anthropic’s revenue is set at $10.9 billion now, according to The Wall Street Journal.

4. The round was co-led by Capital Group, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, GIC, ICONIQ and XN, and includes $15 billion of previously committed hyperscaler investment, among it $5 billion from Amazon. Chipmakers Micron, Samsung and SK hynix joined as strategic infrastructure partners to help scale memory, storage and logic supply.

5. Anthropic now has a higher valuation than OpenAI, its competitor in the generative AI space, which was valued at $852 billion in March, according to CNBC.

6. The raise builds on Anthropic’s Jan. 11 launch of Claude for Healthcare, a HIPAA-compliant platform promising faster prior authorizations, better care coordination and quicker regulatory filings for drug development. Health system executives told Becker’s the enterprise-first, HIPAA-focused tool has an opportunity to become the preferred organizationwide AI platform for hospitals, with early adopters including Phoenix-based Banner Health, Chicago-based CommonSpirit Health and Palo Alto, Calif.-based Stanford Health Care.

7. Claude is now the first frontier model available on Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure, positioning Anthropic to scale across the regulated enterprise sectors driving its revenue growth.

“Startups and Global 5000 companies alike are deploying Claude to handle complex workflows, and in doing so, Claude is learning how businesses actually operate: the context, the processes, the judgment,” said Alfred Lin, Partner at Sequoia Capital, in the news release. “Anthropic is building the bridge between where enterprise AI stands today and where it’s headed.”

8. Anthropic is also working on a cybersecurity large language model, Mythos, to identify vulnerabilities quicker than before. But it can also be used to exploit vulnerabilities. Anthropic shared Mythos Preview with a select few companies to use in their security work. Hospital and health system leaders are on high alert for any developments, with some in the industry expecting an increase in cyberattacks if Mythos or similar large language models become more widely available.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
