The medical industry’s growing emphasis on comprehensive medical documentation and the push for electronic health records have led to the increasing emergence of medical scribe programs.

The ACCIM consists of representatives from national medical scribe companies. It will establish an online medical scribe program and certification exam and develop professional standards and political representation. Certification through ACCIM is necessary in order to distinguish medical scribes and medical scribe programs that have met minimal performance standards from those that have not.
