6 goals for the ONC’s Interoperability Roadmap

The road to health IT interoperability is a long one, but the Office of the National Coordinator provided a roadmap to guide healthcare stakeholders.

Here are six goals along the path to interoperability, according to an infographic from eMedApps.

2015 to 2017
•    Send, receive, find and use data domains to improve healthcare quality
•    30 percent of Medicare payments through alternative models by the end of this year

2018 to 2020
•     Expand interoperable health IT and users to improve population health and lower healthcare costs
•    50 percent of Medicare payments through alternative payment models by the end of 2018

2021 to 2024
•    A learning health system enabled by nationwide interoperability
•    Value-based payment models will be the dominant mode of payment
