ZirMed, Navicure name leader for combined company: 5 things to know

Revenue cycle management companies Duluth, Ga.-based Navicure and Louisville, Ky.-based ZirMed named healthcare and technology executive Matthew Hawkins CEO of their previously announced combined company. The companies also tapped current Navicure President and CEO Jim Denny as board chairman.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Hawkins.

1. Mr. Hawkins, who will also serve on the combined company's board, is slated to begin his role once the transaction is completed. The companies expect that to occur by early November.

2. Mr. Hawkins will take on his role after working at Sunquest Information Systems, a provider of diagnostic and laboratory information systems. While at Sunquest, he led the acquisition and integration of five businesses, according to a news release.

3. Previously, Mr. Hawkins was president and CEO of health IT vendor Vitera Healthcare Solutions, which combined with HIT vendor Greenway Health during his tenure.

4. Mr. Hawkins also previously served as vice president and general manager of global distribution company Henry Schein Practice Solutions.

5. He earned a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School in Boston.
