5 recent donations, grants to healthcare organizations

Numerous healthcare organizations recently received donations to fund research, advance treatments, improve patient care and start renovations.

Here are five recent donations, grants or gifts given to healthcare organizations by various entities in the past two weeks, beginning with the most recent.

1. UC Irvine to put record-breaking $200M donation toward integrative medicine, new facility
University of California Irvine received a $200 million donation from Susan and Henry Samueli, PhD, the largest gift in school history, to build a new health sciences building and launch an integrative health initiative.

2. Rady Children's Hospital to use $6M in donations to establish psychiatric ED
San Diego-based Rady Children's Hospital will create a pediatric psychiatric emergency department, believed to be the first in the nation, thanks to more than $6 million in donations.

3. Washington University School of Medicine receives $46M grant to advance medical research
St. Louis-based Washington University School of Medicine received a $46 million grant from the National Institutes of Health to support medical research aimed at turning clinical discoveries into therapeutics.  

4. Greenville health board awards Clemson $2.6M to study diabetes, improve nurse diversity
The Greenville (S.C.) Health Authority board awarded Clemson (S.C.) University $2.66 million for diabetes prevention and nurse practitioner diversity efforts. 

5. Lurie Children's puts anonymous $12M gift toward mental healthcare for children who experience trauma, violence
Chicago-based Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital received an anonymous $12 million donation that will go toward mental healthcare for children who experience violence.
