WIHS first received warning of the potential loss of its Medicare funding earlier this month, after a CMS investigation revealed a patient died at the hospital in April because the nursing staff failed to meet the medical needs of the patient. CMS found the hospital “posed an immediate and serious threat to the health and safety of patients,” according to the report.
WIHS is working with CMS to attempt to avoid the funding cutoff, according to the report.
