Mr. Barcellona, who became the senior vice president and CFO of the system in July, recently told Becker’s what he is most optimistic about in 2024.
“In 2022, we launched Peak Health, our health insurance company, and started managing the health benefits of our 30,000 employees,” he said. “Heading into 2024, we completed a highly successful campaign offering a Medicare Advantage product to Medicare-eligible West Virginians in 29 counties. In parallel with these efforts on the insurance side, the system continues to invest in the provider network. We have welcomed 10 new hospitals to the system in the past three years, and I am excited about moving beyond integration to the optimization stage for our growing system.”
