VMG Health welcomes managing director: 6 things to know

VMG Health, a healthcare valuation and transaction advisory firm, serving acute care hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, cancer centers and numerous other providers, has hired Don Barbo as a managing director with the business valuation practice.

Here are six things to know about Mr. Barbo.

1. He will work in the firm’s Dallas office.

2. He started his valuation career in 1998 with VMG Health and worked for the company until August 2003.

3. Previously, he was also a partner with professional services firm HSSK and served as a director in Deloitte Financial Advisory Services’ healthcare valuation services team.

4. Mr. Barbo, a certified public accountant, specializes in healthcare business valuations involving mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, partnership transactions, leasing arrangements, commercial damages and financial reporting, according to a news release. He also has extensive experience performing engagements for various contracts between hospitals and physicians, including medical director agreements, on-call agreements, lithotripsy service agreements, purchase services agreements and management services agreements.

5. He has presented extensively to various legal and valuation organizations and published numerous articles regarding business valuation issues.

6. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Tech University in Lubbock and a master’s degree from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas.
